Dust-suppression solutions provider 88Chemco is saving clients costs in the mining, oil and gas, and plantation industries with its chemical technologies and engineering methods, including fine-particle engineering, which was launched in July last year, says 88Chemco CEO Sebastian Karsas.

By adding Hydrogel to the water cart, water’s dust suppression characteristics are significantly enhanced. Savings in water cart usage can be as much as up to 50%, while savings in water usage can be up to 60%.“We aim for, at minimum, a cost neutral situation (product cost is offset by savings achieved) with dust suppression as the bonus.”

Embracing the use of smart technology, 88Chemco has concluded a business study resulting in quantified savings for the Mining, Quarries, Oil and Gas and Plantation industry sectors.

“Our best result was a client south of Johannesburg, South Africa, who reported that watering of haul roads was reduced to once every 17 hours from the normal two to three-hour intervals,”

Mines have to recognise the direct correlation between good road maintenance and high productivity on sites, two experts, Sebastian Karsas of 88Chemco and Dr Shane Richardson of Delta V Experts, assert.
